I’m an HCPC-registered physiotherapist and academic with a particular interest in clinical education, enhanced practice and workforce development.

I’m a Senior Fellow of Advance HE and lead the Enhanced Clinical Practitioner Apprenticeship at the University of Salford, having co-led its development through an NHS England commissioned project. Since then, my role has increasingly focused on growing and developing the programme across the allied health professions, working closely with NHS organisations, professional bodies and other partners to ensure the provision reflects the needs of both practitioners and the wider workforce.

Enhanced Practice in Action: Developing Clinicians, Teams and Services

What does it really mean to practise at an enhanced level?

This session will explore Enhanced Practice as a developing career pathway for experienced clinicians, looking beyond specialist clinical skills to consider the broader capabilities that enable practitioners to have greater impact on patients, teams and services.

Drawing on the Enhanced Clinical Practitioner (ECP) programme at the University of Salford, the session will consider how enhanced practitioners develop across clinical practice, leadership, education and evidence-informed improvement. It will also explore what this can look like in practice for AHPs working across increasingly complex and evolving healthcare environments.

The session will highlight how Enhanced Practice can support individual career development while also helping organisations develop their workforce, improve services and create new opportunities for experienced clinicians.
