Dr. Kelly Robb is Director of Product and Innovation at Kintec Footlabs and Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Kinesiology & Physical Education at Wilfrid Laurier University. She completed her PhD at Wilfrid Laurier University, where her research examined the neurophysiological effects of foot orthoses and their influence on lower limb muscle activity.

Dr. Robb has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications focused on orthotic interventions, biomechanics, and clinical outcomes. She is the current Chair-Elect of the Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario Board of Directors and is committed to advancing evidence-based foot care through research, education, and clinical innovation.

Under the Surface: Skin Deformation, Neural Feedback, and the Science of Textured Foot Orthoses

My presentation will explore where the neuromotor paradigm sits within the broader landscape of foot orthoses design.

Delegates can expect a review of the physiological mechanisms underpinning the sensory system’s role in modulating motor output, including how plantar cutaneous feedback influences movement and neuromuscular control.

The session will also provide a state-of-the-union update on the current evidence surrounding textured foot orthoses, highlighting key research findings, emerging directions, and the clinical implications for contemporary orthotic practice.
