Transforming Diabetic Foot Care Through Digitally Enabled 3D-Printed Insoles: From Innovation to Clinical Implementation
Custom foot insoles play a vital role in reducing plantar pressure and preventing diabetic foot ulceration, yet conventional manufacturing is often labour-intensive, costly and time-consuming.
This presentation describes the implementation of a hospital-based digital workflow integrating 3D foot scanning, computer-aided design and in-house additive manufacturing to deliver personalised insoles for patients with diabetes.
We will share our implementation journey and present clinical and service outcomes, including comparable peak plantar pressure reduction, reduced turnaround time and production costs, and increased service capacity.
