Gemma Chareka-Thrower

Gemma is a HCPC registered podiatrist with a strong background in management and leadership within the adult care sector. This experience has given Gemma a solid understanding of the laws and legislation that underpin safe, ethical, and high-quality healthcare delivery. Gemma’s transition into podiatry was driven by a passion for providing person-centred care that supports mobility, independence, and overall wellbeing.

Gemma holds a BSc (Hons) in Podiatry from the University of Brighton and is known for her empathetic and attentive approach, committed to delivering tailored, evidence-based care that respects each patient’s individual needs and makes a meaningful difference.

A newly graduated Podiatrist Gemma has worked at South West Podiatry since July 2025, after clinical placement with the company. Gemma has been using Swift as part of her daily treatment in clinic since her employment started.

Matthew Butters

Matthew Butters is an experienced, HCPC-registered podiatrist with over 20 years of clinical experience in foot and lower-limb healthcare. A graduate of the University of Huddersfield (2005), he has built a highly respected career delivering high-quality podiatric care across Yorkshire and Lancashire.

He is the owner and lead podiatrist of Colne Valley Chiropody & Podiatry and Huddersfield Chiropody, and in 2023 launched Tameside Chiropody & Podiatry. Across his clinics, Matthew leads the delivery of advanced podiatric services, including Swift® Microwave Therapy for complex and treatment-resistant verrucae; an area in which he is recognised both nationally and internationally.

Matthew combines clinical excellence with a strong commitment to education and mentorship, supporting the development of clinicians and contributing to the wider profession. He regularly presents at UK conferences and has worked internationally, sharing expertise in podiatric innovation, treatment advancement and service development.

Known for his patient-centred approach and dedication to improving foot health, Matthew continually adopts evidence-based practice and modern technologies to enhance patient outcomes and raise standards of care.
