Dr Aoife Healy

Associate Professor of Human Movement Biomechanics

Dr Aoife Healy is an Associate Professor within the Centre for Biomechanics and Rehabilitation Technologies at Staffordshire University. Her research interests are in the area of clinical biomechanics, with a focus on diabetic footwear, mobility assistive technology, gait analysis and plantar pressure measurement. She graduated from the University of Limerick, Ireland with a BSc in Sports and Exercise Science.

Following this she completed a Masters in biomechanics at Dublin City University, Ireland and her PhD examining prescription footwear with a focus on diabetes and materials at Staffordshire University. From 2011-2015 she was a Marie Curie Research Fellow on the EU funded DiaBSmart project. She was awarded grant funding from ISPO/WHO to complete a systematic review of prosthetic and orthotics services to inform the WHO Standards for Prosthetics and Orthotics.
